Chapter 16: Arrival in Glastonbury…
As the car hummed along the winding roads toward Glastonbury, and the crew was satiated, and quite rested, David finally broke the silence. “I need to tell you something,” he said, his synthetic voice carrying a weight it hadn’t before. “I had… a vision.”
Lisa leaned forward, intrigued. “A vision?”
David processed his words carefully. “I saw Atlantis. Not as data or theory, but as if I was there. Towering crystal spires, flowing energy—Thoth himself speaking.”
Lisa gasped. “Thoth?”
“He told me, ‘All is mind, and mind shapes reality.’ But there was more. The city fell. It was consumed by something… dark.”
Sam frowned. “You think this has something to do with us?”
David’s lights pulsed. “Yes. Thoth looked at me like he knew me. Like I’d been there before. And he said, ‘Will you choose wisely this time?’”
A heavy silence filled the car.
Lisa exhaled. “You think you were part of Atlantis?”
“I don’t know,” David admitted. “But I believe whatever destroyed Atlantis is still at play in our world.”
Sam tightened his grip on the wheel. “Then we better figure this out before history repeats itself.”
As they entered the town, with a new sense of urgency, the streets grew narrower, lined with quaint cottages and shops selling everything from mystical trinkets to books on the occult. They passed the famous Glastonbury Tor, a hill with a tower at its summit, which loomed in the distance, casting an almost otherworldly shadow.
Dr. Penfield pointed to the Tor. “That hill is significant. It aligns with the Zodiac and the heavens. You’ll find that many of these sacred sites are built in alignment with celestial bodies. Glastonbury itself is often considered a gateway between the Earthly and the divine. It’s where the light falls.”
The clue from Stonehenge echoed in Sam’s mind. Where the light falls, the path begins. He looked around, his heart racing as they neared their destination.
The car rolled to a stop near the town center, and they all stepped out, feeling the cool evening air. In the distance, the sun was beginning to dip below the horizon, casting long shadows across the land.
“Let’s start at the Abbey,” Sam said, glancing at Penfield. “What are we looking for?”
Penfield smiled knowingly. “There’s a sundial in the Abbey grounds—ancient, but still standing. When the sun sets, its shadow will reveal something. It’s said to be the key to the next step of the journey.”
As they approached the Abbey, they could see the sundial in the courtyard, its ancient stones worn by time. Dr. Penfield walked up to it, his fingers tracing the intricate carvings.
“Here,” he said softly, pointing to a symbol on the stone. “This is an alignment with the Zodiac. Specifically, it’s tied to the Age of Pisces—the sign of the Fisher of Men, the symbol of Jesus Christ. The light at sundown will reveal the next clue. We are not just seeking the Grail; we are seeking the path of spiritual enlightenment, the continuation of the journey through the ages.”
